When you live in a city that is consumed with innovative eats around every corner, it’s sometimes easy to miss out on a hidden gem. That’s why Bai Mint Thai in Portland is my local business spotlight this week. There is something special about this quaint, little Thai spot on SE Woodstock. My friends and I recently tried a popular Thai place in the Pearl with a menu that was 3x’s as expensive, and I am here to tell you that they can’t hold a candle to Bai Mint Thai.
While they might not be located in one of the most food-centric neighborhoods in the city, don’t mistake them for another run-of-the-mill, neighborhood Thai joint. Their menu includes the Thai food staples that Americans love, but they also have some less common options, and all of it includes high quality ingredients that are oh-so-good!
Bai Mint has some of the best shrimp fresh rolls, and I love their curry, but one of my secret tips is to sub brown rice on any dish where rice is included. You. Will. Not. Be. Disappointed! Their brown rice is nothing like standard brown rice. It’s actually a deep maroon color and is nutty with incredible texture! I wish every Thai restaurant had that rice as an option.
Whether you’re into stir-fries, salads, curries or noodle dishes, Bai Mint has it all at an elevated level. Get it for take-out, delivery or stop in to grab one of their handful of tables currently available for dine-in.
