Things to do in SW Portland OR
SW Portland OR is home to Tryon Creek State Natural Area, the only state park within a major metropolitan area. Located along the southwestern brim of the city, the park is located just 15 minutes from downtown Portland.
Washington Park in nestled in the slopes of the West Hills and is home to the International Rose Test Garden, Portland Japanese Garden, Hoyt Arboretum, World Forestry Center, Portland Children’s Museum and the Oregon Zoo.
Council Crest Park is hidden deep in the neighborhoods of Portland’s West Hills and offers some of the best views of the city. Thought to be the highest point in the city, on a sunny day you can get stunning views of the cityscape below as well as the Cascade Mountain Range.
Make sure to pay attention to what is happening at Tom McCall Waterfront Park throughout the year. Often called Portland’s front yard, this park is tucked between the Willamette River and the downtown streets and offers great views of the city. It plays host to some of the best festivals throughout the year, such as the Portland Rose Festival, the Waterfront Blues Festival, and the Oregon Brewers Festival. The long-running Portland Saturday Market, also takes up space within the northern part of the park each Saturday.
