Things to Do in NW Portland
Sauvie Island, located about 10 miles north of Downtown Portland, and is where the Willamette and Columbia Rivers meet. This island is home to dozens of farms, some of which are highly sought berry farms and pumpkin patches. The island is also popular for bike riders, who love its flat landscape and sleepy roads. Lastly, it’s access to the Columbia River via few public beaches makes it an ideal place to kayak and boat.
Take a hike in the city. Portland’s Forest Park is one of the largest Urban Forests in the county. Spanning 5,200 acres of the West Hills, the park over looks the city and the Willamette River. With more than 80 miles of trails, you will have no shortage of ways to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours.
Take a tour of the Pittock Mansion, a French Renaissance-style Chateau that was built in 1914. Now owned by Portland Parks and Rec, it sits on 46 acres, over looking the city.
